NASA X-57 MAXWELL ELECTRIC AIRPLANE. It has a 850 pounds of batteries in it, and can do 150 mph. It will never catch on, because batteries are too expensive. A $20,000 bill for new batteries every 4 years, or so, is going to kill it. And of course the power to charge the batteries also cost. If they made the top of the wing, tail and surface from Solar Cells, it might have a chance - but there is still expensive batteries in it.
